That mystery Kia concept that was teased a couple months ago? This is it: the Kia Provo, and it's way better than the teaser shots communicated. One thing is obvious. If Kia builds this, and they should, because it looks terrific, they'll be going after the Mini Cooper and its competitors like the Audi A1 and Citroen DS3. And they'll do so with a product that looks very much the part.
Power comes from Kia's 1.6-liter GDI turbo four making around 201 horsepower. It drives the front wheels via a 7-speed DCT gearbox, but an electric motor for the rear wheels gives the car what Kia calls "smart 4WD"
The Provo would turn heads on street corners from London to, well, Utah, thanks to its squat, bulldog stance and athletic hot-hatch profile. This is a styling win on all levels: Cooper S-meets-GTI on the outside, with a show-car interior that wouldn't look wrong in an Aston Martin.
